ORQUESTRA DE LES MINES

Under this name the old orchestra of the mine in Bellmunt del Priorat is restored, updating its concept, functions and objectives. This new approach establishes an intersection between contemporary composers, performers -musicians and no-musicians- and the most experimental concepts of sound.

This program, developing as a work in progress, has the aim of favoring the composition of sound pieces by contemporary experimental authors and to articulate its assimilation and performance by means of a group of performers coming from this region who are willing to rehearse and perform them in public.

The conceptual and formal results of this experience will also be published on paper or brought out in audio or DVD format.

A fourth level is incorporated to this three levels of participation –composer/performer/audience- which implies a pedagogical approach by the people who are interested on it, and which will be formalized through seminars, talks, debates both with the composers and with the performers.
